The fundraising event was hosted by Hopeful Hearts, a charity that supports children in need of heart surgery in China. AGS Movers Chengdu not only transported the artwork to the event, but also helped out on the day.

In a letter to AGS Movers Chengdu, Carrie Howe of Hopeful Hearts wrote:

“Without your support we would not have been able to raise the funds necessary to help the children.”

The money raised is used for the much needed medical treatment and care, which offers a future for these children.

Well done to AGS Movers Chengdu for paving the way to a brighter future.

Totem pole of hope for Sichuan Province https://www.agsmovers.com/news/totem-pole-of-hope-for-sichuan-province/ https://www.agsmovers.com/news/totem-pole-of-hope-for-sichuan-province/#respond Wed, 01 Sep 2010 07:48:54 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/?p=22363 A totem pole was bestowed upon the Qiang people of Sichuan Province by the British Columbia First Nations Forestry Council, and AGS Movers Chengdu had the privilege of providing the logistics.

During a mission to the region, which was devastated by an earthquake in May 2008, the British Columbia First Nations Forestry Council leaders decided to donate a totem pole as a symbol of unity and hope for reconstruction and renewal.

The planning of this operation started in mid June and every step was taken into careful consideration, starting with the logistics at the airport, the type of truck to be used and a crane for unloading at the Museum, including the choice of fabric colour for the unveiling of the totem pole.

The totem pole operation began with the unloading and collection from Chengdu Airport, and delivery to the Sichuan Museum for the donation ceremony the next day. The momentous ceremonial event on 4 July was attended by the Governor General of Canada.

The very next day, the totem pole was safely delivered to Beichuan (200km from Chengdu) where it was erected at the location of the new Canadian-funded schools in Sichuan province.

Keith Ellis, Country Manager of AGS Movers China, commented:

“It is not every day in our business that we come across an opportunity to be involved in something this special, and I am proud that our Chengdu office has been able to participate in an event that may not happen again in China. This was truly memorable and we look forward to the development of the new schools.”

AGS Movers China Supports Communities

It was plain sailing at this year’s International Boat Show Charity Regatta in April, when AGS Movers Shanghai sponsored autistic children at the worthy event.

The branch provided tents and candy floss for the kids, and free short-term storage for the Silent Angel Kindergarten for Autistic Children.

Meanwhile, newly-opened AGS Movers Wuhan supported renowned Chinese photographer, Qi Hong, by sponsoring his “In Time” photographic exhibition. The exhibition took place from 15 – 30 May this year in Wuhan Tiandi. The branch also championed the cause of children from Hong An Village by helping to raise funds at a charity dinner on 15 May. Proceeds from the evening allowed the children to enjoy a much needed day of fun at the Wuhan Amusement Park.

And AGS Movers Chengdu reached its sponsorship goal by financially supporting the city’s expat football team. The Chengdu Expat Football Team are first division players in the Chengdu City league.

AGS Movers “Gets Out There” https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-movers-gets-out-there/ Tue, 15 Dec 2009 13:55:15 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/ags-four-winds-gets-out-there/ Every day we are presented with opportunities to establish friendships and strong alliances, both at work and play. This month we commend AGS International Movers for “getting out there”.

The American Chamber of Commerce, in Southwest China, organized a July 4th celebration fundraising benefit.

This event was held on June 27th at Chengdu Meishi International School to celebrate the 233rd American Independence Day. AGS Movers Chengdu was invited as a sponsor, and all the proceeds went to the Sichuan Earthquake Rebuilding Effort.

Candy floss and flyers were handed out at the AGS Movers Chengdu’s stand, which drew the attention and interest of many visitors, particularly families with young children. The American Independence Day celebration is a premier event in Chengdu, and this year over 1000 people attended.

Most recently AGS Movers Shanghai sponsored a synchronized swimming gala at the Gubei Gym Club.

AGS Movers Shanghai donated AGS-branded towels to the swimmers, and many families supported the event.

This event was an excellent opportunity for AGS representatives to meet prospective clients and network with numerous people.

A live boxing event was held on August 29, 2009, in Hong Kong’s prestigious Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC). The event was in aid of former rugby player and coach, Joel Dunn, who was well-known in the local community. Joel was diagnosed with Leukaemia a few months ago and recently passed away, leaving a young family behind.

AGS Movers Hong Kong was tasked with handling the logistics of moving the boxing ring to and from the HKFC. The event was a huge success, and about HK$420,000.00 was raised. Well done to AGS Movers Hong Kong for handling the logistics superbly.

AGS Movers Shanghai attended the Expat Show in September as an exhibitor. All sorts of boxes and packing materials were on display in both booths to show clients what we use when we move their goods.

Brochure stands were also available, and a number of corporate gifts were handed out, like magnets, squeeze trucks, beanies, caps and beer coolers. AGS Movers Shanghai also arranged a lucky draw and offered a number of fabulous prizes, such as a case of wine, a bottle of champagne, a DVD player and gift vouchers.

The Expat Show Shanghai is a three-day event that aims to bring the expatriate community together. With more than 9000 visitors over three days and approximately 200 exhibitors, this is the largest expat event in Shanghai. This exhibition makes it possible for foreigners to find all the information, products and services they might need while living in Shanghai.

From AGS Movers in Chengdu …

Thanks to Keith and his vibrant management team, AGS always goes one step further in China.

Our newly opened branch, AGS Movers Chengdu has already demonstrated its involvement. The Chengdu branch was involved in a recent yard sale at the QSI International School in Chengdu, where proceeds went to the Roots and Shoots Foundation, an international youth empowerment organization.

AGS Movers Chengdu also attended a recent “Thirsty Thursday” held by the British Chamber of Commerce, south west China. Thirsty Thursday celebrates successful women, and Theresa Xie, Branch Manager of AGS Movers Chengdu, was a deserving attendee.

In sport, the Chengdu Wanderers Football Club, in the first division of the Chengdu City football league, now proudly wears the AGS Movers logo.
